The trustees approved spending $24,850 to get cost estimates, possible funding sources and other information in a feasibility study to be performed by consultant LBJ Inc.
Trustee Tom Farrell still favors a pedestrian-only bridge but said he recognizes the need to also address traffic issues in that area.
“Moving traffic along that area is going to be a constant struggle,” Farrell said. “We need to make sure we look at and investigate all avenues. This is an opportunity to get the cost structure behind it, what grants are available to be able to build both a vehicle bridge and a walking bridge.
The pedestrian bridge is part of a larger plan by the trustees to create a pedestrian friendly environment throughout the township.
