The project is slated to last from January to May, Wolf said. When it is done, the company will add 25 jobs to its workforce at the site, which currently employs about 90, he said.
“It’s going to be that much more storage capability for customers that we have,” Wolf said.
Hamilton is one of eight Interstate Warehousing locations in the U.S. Interstate is one of three companies owned by Tippmann Group of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Interstate chose to expand its Hamilton operations over one of its Indiana operations and will receive a 75-percent tax exemption on real property taxes over 10 years, according to the city.
The expansion is customer driven, Wolf said. Some customers have grown and Interstate is growing with its customers to gain additional business. As it is, the Hamilton warehouse is close to full and has been for a while, with more than 41,000 pallet positions, he said.
The expansion adds 11,500 pallets positions for total more than 53,000 total pallet positions, he said.
“So if we didn’t expand, we wouldn’t be able to accommodate the growth of our customers,” he added.
It is the second economic development announcement by the city this month. On Dec. 6, city officials said Greenwood Fuels LLC, an alternative fuels company out of Green Bay, Wis., will put a new location in Hamilton and create 25 to 30 jobs.
