RiversEdge has rescheduled its first concert of the year as officials make other backup plans if precautions over the coronavirus further change the amphitheater’s schedule.

The Back in Black (AC/DC tribute) and The Four Horsemen (Metallica tribute) concert scheduled Friday, May 29 will be rescheduled for Thursday, July 30.

”When the governor extended the (stay-at-home) order, we reached out to both of the artists on the lineup and began discussing the viability of holding the show as scheduled. We all agreed it would be in everyone’s best interest to reschedule the show later in the year,” said Adam Helms, director of resident services, City of Hamilton.

Tickets for that show or any rescheduled can be used on the new date, officials said.

“A lot of the artists on our lineup already have shows booked for an extended period of time, so finding mutually agreeable dates among multiple schedules is challenging. We’re committed to bringing live music to downtown Hamilton whenever we’re given the all clear,” Helms said.

RiversEdge is working on a contingency plan in case any of the shows must be rescheduled or postponed.

In addition to the Back in Black show, other season highlights will include Lawrence with Motherfolk on Thursday, Aug. 6; Southern Avenue with Lowdown Brass Band on Thursday, Aug. 27; Material Girl & The Flame Monster (Madonna & Lady Gaga Tribute) on Friday, Sept. 4 and Signs of Life: The American Pink Floyd on Saturday, Sept. 19.

“Southern Avenue has played RiversEdge before, but not as part of the free concert series. They played at David Shaw’s Big River Get Down last year. Then, shortly after the Big River Get Down, they were nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best Contemporary Blues Album,’ so we have a Grammy nominee coming back to Hamilton,” Helms said.

The majority of RiversEdge concerts will be held on Thursdays. The Whimmydiddle Country Music Festival is set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14 and 15. Tickets for Whimmydiddle can be purchased at www.whimmydiddle.com.

RiversEdge can accommodate about 3,000 concertgoers. This is the ninth year for the RiversEdge Concert Series.

Every show that is part of the RiversEdge Concert Series will be free. VIP tickets will also be available for each show. A VIP ticket for $25 will include stage-front seating, access to the VIP deck, and four food and drink vouchers.

In light of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, 2020 is proving to be a challenging year for live music and musicians. There is a “donation” option on the Eventbrite ticket page for each show. All donations will be split between RiversEdge and the artists on the show.

“Every little bit helps. Everybody is kind of hard up right now with everything going on, but musicians, especially, they can’t go out and play live music, so we’re just trying to help out where we can,” Helms said.
