Joella’s Hot Chicken plans to open next month at 5016 Deerfield Blvd. in Deerfield Twp. inside the Deerfield Towne Center.

The fast-casual restaurant serves hot chicken and made-from-scratch Southern side dishes. Christina Happel, regional vice president of operations for Joella’s Hot Chicken, said the chain takes pride in its Southern hospitality and family-friendly atmosphere.

The new location will join two other Joella's locations in the region, one at The Banks in downtown Cincinnati and the other in Crescent Springs, Kentucky.

Its Southern-inspired menu includes all-natural chicken that is brined to lock in juiciness and flavor. Favorite menu items include Jumbo Tenders, Big Wings, and Joella’s famous Chicken and Waffles.

Joella’s also offers a vegan chicken option.

Hot chicken comes in six heat levels: Southern (no heat), Spiked Honey, Ella’s Fav, Tweener, Hot, and Fire-in Da-Hole, which the chain said is “so spicy you need to sign a waiver!”

Made-from-scratch Southern sides made in-store daily include Creamy Mac & Cheese, Green Beans with Bacon, Sweet Vinegar Slaw, Parm Garlic Fries and Kale Crunch Salad.

The new restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and kids eat free every Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. It also will offer a full catering menu.

Currito

Thunderdome Restaurant Group is opening its first Butler County location for its fast-growing, fast-casual concept, Currito.

The new restaurant is working to open at 7687 Doc Drive in West Chester Twp., a storefront just east of Interstate 75’s Tylersville Road exit and a space formerly occupied by Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Currito serves an internationally inspired menu of burritos, bowls, salads and real-fruit smoothies. A classic burrito is served with cilantro-lime rice, beans and cheese.

Those not in the mood for Mexican cuisine can opt for Bangkok, teriyaki, Cajun, buffalo and Mediterranean or just create their own. Other options include breakfast and soups.

Currito isn’t the only concept the Thunderdome Restaurant Group has launched. Others include Maplewood, Bakersfield, Citybird, The Eagle, Krueger’s Tavern, Pepp & Dolores and Sohi.
