Jones said one of his officers was talking with a member of the Walmart loss prevention department when the call about a shoplifter came across the store’s internal radio. The Oxford officer found Ashley R. Fawley sitting inside a white Dodge Caravan.

She drove through the parking lot and the officer thought she was picking up someone else exiting the store, according to the police report.
Police asked Fawley whether she accidentally took anything from the store and she said she left everything in the store because she couldn’t find her debit card. A jacket, valued at $70, was found in the back of her vehicle.
At the Oxford Police Department, she told officers she made a mistake and shouldn’t have taken the jacket. She was charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, and driving under suspension. She was taken to the Butler County Jail.
While police were investigating the shoplifting, they came in contact with Donald Buttery, 40, of Oxford. Police found that Buttery had a warrant for non-support of his dependents out of Preble County. He was taken to the Preble County Jail.
