The officer was shown video of four juveniles on bicycles ride up to the scene at approximately 4 a.m. to where the plants and seating are located. Two of the juveniles were seen on the video damaging the plants while two watched. After a few minutes, the video shows the four riding their bikes north across the parking lot.
The officer was later able to identify the juveniles.
At 2 p.m. that day, the officer received another call, in reference to a theft at KDS gas station on College Corner Pike. That report also involved a juvenile on a bicycle.
The owner told the officer an employee had found video of a male juvenile approach the front of the store prior to opening that morning and taking a bundle of newspapers. The bundle included USA Today, the Journal-News and Cincinnati Enquirer. The youth then fled north out of the parking lot.
The officer was able to view the video and identify him. Value of the bundle of newspapers was estimated at $34.
The officer contacted the juvenile’s father to advise him of the situation and that the juvenile was being charged with criminal mischief and theft. The second juvenile’s father could not be reached.
