Oxford police were called to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital on a report of a male with a serious head injury suffered while walking home from drinking in the bars Uptown, according to a police report.

He had been brought to the hospital at 11:50 p.m. Oct. 9.

The officer spoke with a friend of the injured male and was told three people had been walking back from Uptown on East Church Street. The male suddenly decided to jump over a metal single chain fence in the 300 block but his foot got caught up and he fell, striking his head on the sidewalk and started snoring.

Other friends were called to the scene and took the male to their fraternity house but once there decided the injuries were serious and drove him to the hospital. He was later flown to University Hospital in Cincinnati.

The officer later checked the area around the scene of the injury but could not find anything out of the ordinary.
