Oxford police received two recent reports of theft of building supplies from the mobile home park on College Corner Pike, one of which resulted in a witness getting photographs of the theft including the vehicle used and its license plate number, according to a police report.

The suspect was not identified in the report because he was not charged at the time the report was released.

The first report was made at 12:31 p.m. April 14 when an employee of River Valley Communities told police of the theft of numerous wooden boards of various sizes and wooden spindles which were being used to build new decks on mobile homes.

The employee making the report said the materials were there at about 6:10 p.m. April 9 and were found to be missing at 8:10 a.m. April 13. She said she believed a large truck or truck with a trailer were used due to the size of some of the boards.

There were no suspects.

The next day, however, April 15, police received another report of theft from the mobile home park. That report was made at 12:55 p.m. saying individuals were there stealing building materials.

They were gone by the time police arrived, but a witness said she saw two men walking past her mobile home several times carrying lumber to their vehicle. She provided several photos of the men carrying lumber from a construction site owned by the park as well as the vehicle its license plate.

Officers identified the suspect owning the vehicle and went to the address on file for him but his father told them he had kicked his son out a month earlier because he suspected him of stealing tools. He did not know where his son was staying.

The witness they had spoken to earlier said she had seen the vehicle in the park several times and the property manager said materials had been getting stolen for several days with a total value of approximately $1,000.

She was able to identify items taken in the most recent theft as four 2X6 boards, 50 2X2 spindles in two bundles, and six 2X4 boards, with approximate value of $154 plus tax. Pictures taken by the witness were sent by email to the officer.
