The Middletown Rotary Club recently awarded three Miami Regionals students majoring in community arts $500 for their efforts to spruce up downtown Middletown through the Perk Up Middletown project.

This project was supported by the Middletown Rotary Club, the Middletown Arts Center, the Middletown Community Foundation, the Department of Humanities and Creative Arts at Miami Regionals.

The award-winning students: Alexis Bruce, Sam Gibbs and Jiamin Su.

Bruce’s artwork is featured on an utility box at Central Avenue and Main Street; Gibbs’ artwork is on a box at North Verity Parkway and Manchester Avenue; and Su’s artwork is featured on a box at Central Avenue and Carmody Boulevard.

This summer, Miami Regionals students were given 2/3 scale sized replicas of the utility boxes to display their idea for the artwork. Three entries were selected to be displayed in the City of Middletown main lobby in May and then added to three utility boxes in the downtown Middletown area.
