A new McDonald’s is rising where a former location of the fast food giant once stood.

The new restaurant should open by late August or early September because “a complete rebuild typically projects to be a 90 day process,” according to Ashley Staples, a spokeswoman.

The restaurant will feature a double drive thru with an outside digital menu board, touchscreen ordering kiosks, bus parking and 24-hour operations, Staples said.

“During the planning process, McDonald’s and the City of Monroe worked together to create a beautiful building for the community that is truly one of a kind,” she said.

McDonald’s is hiring 80 part-time and full-time positions including shift management, kitchen and service crew, third shift crew and maintenance, Staples said.

“We currently have several employees working/training at other locations who will come back to their home location, Monroe,” she said.
