A sewer line repair project has cost the city of Middletown more than $1 million.

City Council on Tuesday approved $163,000 for additional repair work performed on the city’s north interceptor sewer line, which is adjacent to South Main Street between 15th and 18th avenues.

The city previously awarded a $949,604 contract for the work.

The repairs were needed to maintain flow in the sewer line and limit bypasses into the Great Miami River, which the line runs along, according to Scott Tadych, city public works director.

The additional repairs replaced 152 feet of 48-inch pipe that partially collapsed in mid-March near Windsor Avenue, about a half-mile from the original project.
