The three new vehicles will cost a total of $54,858 and will be purchased through Middletown Ford.
According to the city, the Division of Police has three 10-year-old detective vehicles that need to be replaced. The vehicles, all 2008 Chevrolet Impalas, have met the city’s 15-point replacement schedule and were 42 months past their replacement date, city officials said.
The current vehicles will be sold through the GovDeals website.
City officials said that the replacement cars were needed because maintenance costs will continue to escalate. The Division of Police had allocated funds in its 2018 budget for this purchase, officials said.
