Middletown man stabbed during dispute over a dog

A man was stabbed Tuesday morning in Middletown during a apparent dispute over a dog, according to police.

Edward Coupland, 25, of Mohawk St., went to a residence in the 400 block of Richmond Street about 2:35 a.m. to get back his pit bull, which allegedly had been stolen, according Lt. Scott Reeve.

During an altercation at the residence, there was a fight involving bothers Gage and Phillip Williams and Coupland, according to police. Gage Williams sliced Coupland in the neck, Reeve said.

Gage Williams, 19, was charged with felonious assault and Phillip Williams, 24, was charged with assault. Both were transported to the Middletown City Jail.

Coupland was transported to Atrium Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
