He turned through a courtyard to an alley and then on to East Walnut Street, crossing South Campus Avenue outside of any marked crosswalk. Once on the Miami campus, he fell and ignored an order to stay down but the officer caught up with him in the area of Hall Auditorium.
He had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and was taken into custody.
He was identified as a 19-year-old Miami student. In addition to a valid Illinois driver’s license, he was in possession of a fictitious Illinois license as well as a fictitious Utah license.
He was issued criminal charges for disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, offenses concerning underage persons and two for prohibited acts. He also received two civil citations for failing to adhere to a pedestrian control signal and crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.
During processing, he reportedly told the officer it was likely for the best, since he did not want to be at Miami any more, anyway and he apologized to the officer. The fictitious IDs were placed in evidence.
