An area man who allegedly used a fake credit card to pay $6,000 for two French bulldogs in Liberty Twp. is in custody, though the dogs’ whereabouts remain unknown.

According to Sheriff Richard Jones, the two dogs were purchased recently at the Your New Puppy pet store.

According to the sheriff’s statement, “detectives investigating the case discovered the suspect to be a Jerry Armstrong from Cincinnati. Armstrong purchased the two canines with a fraudulent credit card for $6,000. Upon questioning Mr. Armstrong, he advised he sold the dogs and has no knowledge of who he sold them to or where the subjects reside.

“We hope these canines are being properly cared for by whomever bought them from this individual, and hope he doesn’t think coming up here to Butler County to commit this crime would somehow make it easier for him. If so, he’s sadly mistaken.”

The sheriff said a theft by deception felony fifth-degree warrant was issued for Armstrong. He is currently incarcerated in Kentucky and will be transported to the Butler County Jail upon release.
