Lisa Tuttle-Huff, superintendent of Madison Schools, said “the extra police presence was only for a short time this morning regarding an outside issue.”
School officials have not revealed the nature of that “issue.”
Tuttle-Huff did say “the school was only on a lockout for a short time to make sure that we had all the information we needed before allowing outside visitors into the building.”
“The students were never in any danger and school functioned on a normal schedule,” she said.
INITIAL REPORT
Extra law enforcement will be at Madison Jr./Sr. High School today, the district reported in a Facebook post.
“We wanted to give information to all parents regarding the extra police at the school and lockOUT called by the school,” the district wrote in its post.
“There is no threat to students in the building and students are able to move from class to class. We are investigating an allegation outside of school; however, we take all threats and allegations seriously and wanted to investigate thoroughly before making an all-call. There is NO THREAT to the school.”
We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.
