Lindenwald Station to feature food, music and trains

HAMILTON — The owners of a new family-owned and operated restaurant hope providing good food and a unique atmosphere will put them on the right track for a successful business.

Lindenwald Station, 2535 Pleasant Ave., will feature a full breakfast menu to be served all day long, plus traditional American fare such as hamburger, sandwiches, fries, soups and salads. Lunch and dinner specials are in the works.

The restaurant, which seats 45, is projected to open sometime this month, but owners brothers Brian and Mike Cooper - and Mike’s wife Donna - plan to hold a sneak preview from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday during Hamilton’s Christmas Walk. Complimentary hot chocolate, cappuccino and cookies will be served.

Lindenwald Station’s name stems from the working model train and trolleys that travel the restaurant’s walls and past its windows and tables.

“We’re going for a ‘diner with atmosphere’ look,” Donna Cooper said. “Brian’s previous company was building model bridges for serious train hobbyists and as we started working on our plans, we decided to incorporate that into it.”

Their son Brandon painted a mural that graces the backdrop behind the train’s bridge and their niece Abby contributed artwork along the trolley’s path. Local artists will be invited to display their work in the restaurant.

Weekends at Lindenwald Station will feature live music.

“Diners and cafes often have college students who like to come in and play on the weekends or would like to have somewhere to go,” Donna Cooper said. “With Miami (University Hamilton) right behind us, we want to be user-friendly to the students.”

Also available will be WiFi and plenty of outlets to charge mobile devices, she said.

Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information, call (513) 969-2202.
