According to Hamilton Fire Chief Mark Mercer, there was a report that a person was in the house, but after searching, firefighters determined it was unoccupied.

“The crews did a great job protecting the neighbor’s house from fire,” Mercer said. There were no injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.
