INITIAL REPORT

A Hamilton police and SWAT response to a report of a person threatening self-harm caused a lockdown this morning at a nearby elementary school.

Police remain on the scene of a home in 900 block of Foster Avenue, according to Hamilton police Sgt. Richard Burkhardt. Units from Hamilton and Fairfield are on the scene.

The response this morning caused a lockdown at Linden Elementary, Hamilton Schools said. The lockdown is still under effect.

Hamilton Schools released this statement:

The safety of our students and staff is a priority for the Hamilton City School District.

Linden Elementary School received a phone call today from law enforcement to go into a lockout due to a person who has barricaded himself in a house near the school.

The lockout was external only, this means that no individual was permitted to enter or exit the building, but classes continued uninterrupted within the building.

At no time were students or staff in danger.

We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.
