“They’re places that people who grew up in Lindenwald will know and remember.”
Also painting the mural were Ben Dysart and John Wolfer.
Speaking about the murals during the ceremony will be representatives of the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, StreetSpark, Minnick’s and Lindenwald’s neighborhood association.
“I think this will be a good turnout,” Acus-Smith said. “I know a bunch of people in Lindenwald, and they definitely have really strong community pride. I think people are really excited about this one.”
It was Rickerd’s first year working with StreetSpark, “and he is super detail oriented. He’s a graphic designer, and this design is very precise — all the windows have to be lined up just so — and he and his team did a really awesome job, just really paying attention to detail, and getting that right,” she said.
Before the mural was painted, the wall was blank, and not very attractive, officials said. Now, it carries a welcome to the Lindenwald business district, which officials, business people and residents hope is making a comeback.
A dedication for the mural on the front of the Booker T. Washington Community Center happened earlier this month. The dedication for the third StreetSpark mural painted this summer, “Incrementum,” at the northwest corner of the intersection of High Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, will happen Thursday, Sept. 26, at 4:30 p.m.
