He explained that the campaign was formerly known as Common Threads, but in 2015 was changed to Building.Community. to better reflect its purpose.
“We are very excited about this year’s annual fundraising campaign at the Fitton Center,” MacKenzie-Thurley said. “It gives us an excellent opportunity to let people know the impact the Fitton Center is having across the whole community. We are very grateful for the generous support shown to us by the donors, sponsors and funders who enable us to connect people with the arts throughout Hamilton and Butler County.”
The interesting part about the fundraiser is the dollar amount needed for success is something that the center is not preparing for public consumption.
“All contributions to this campaign will support outreach, education and the community,” MacKenzie-Thurley said, declining to give a specific fiscal target for the campaign.
He added, “Every year the Fitton Center works with thousands of individuals of all ages at over 10 community partner sites throughout Butler County. They also continuously provide arts education, training and summer camps and offer scholarships to children, adults and seniors.”
In the past year the Fitton Center has increased membership by 110 percent, and has had over 50 performances, theater, music, speaking, and gallery events, as well as offering over 25 classes and over 20 summer camps.
“The generous contributions received from the Building.Community. campaign will allow the Fitton Center to continue increasing these numbers and providing the greater Hamilton community with quality arts experiences,” MacKenzie-Thurley said.
Director of Development Alisa Miller said money generated from the campaign will help expand the center’s presence at community events such as Alive after 5, Operation Pumpkin and the Pyramid Hill Art Fair.
“Contributions will help make a difference in our ability to continue to positively impact so many in our community through the arts,” Miller said.
