The Union Centre Boulevard Merchant Association announced the cancellation of the eighth annual Union Centre Food Truck Rally in West Chester Twp., which was scheduled for Aug. 14.

The decision announced Monday was not one that the executive members of the UCBMA have taken lightly, according to Kerry Hendel, a member and the group’s vice president.

“Based on information we have gathered from experts, including COVID-19 guidelines for fairs and festivals set forth by the state of Ohio, we agreed this was the best decision to make,” Hendel said. “Our number one goal has also been to hold a safe event for all to enjoy, including our guests, sponsors and vendors.”

The event typically features dozens of food truck vendors spread out at the Square at Union Centre, with large crowds gathering throughout the day.

The next Union Centre Food Truck Rally is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2021.

UCBMA is a group of local merchants promoting the Union Centre community while supporting local causes. It recently donated $5,000 to the Community Health Fund at West Chester/Liberty Community Foundation. That money helped supply medical supplies to area first responders and food staples to local food pantry Reach Out Lakota in response to COVID-19.
