Donna McKnight, the new store’s general manager, said they have already hired enough employees to open the store but will retain the applications of people who weren’t hired as openings come up, saying it would be “an ongoing process.”
“With all of the retailers that have moved out in recent years, we’ve generated a lot of inquiries,” said Roberta Denton, a store trainer from Mentor, Ohio. She said most of the supervisory, customer service, cashier and stocking jobs would be part-time.
McKnight said, “We’ve had a lot of questions from the ‘mall walkers’ about what we were doing.”
As the hiring event was going on inside of the mall, crews were working assembling fixtures and other equipment inside the new store, which McKnight described as being “ bright, clean and colorful.”
The new store is located in a portion of the former Dillard’s store and will occupy about 57,000 square-feet of retail space next to Burlington’s. It will be one of three new Gabe’s stores being opened in three states.
Gabriel Brothers, Inc., is a discount fashion retailer that offers famous brand apparel as well as footwear, home goods and toys, at prices of up to 70 percent off department store prices. The company operates stores in Beavercreek, Sharonville, Beechmont, and Dent.
Those who were unable to make to the hiring event can email their resume to applyjobs.middletown@gabes.net.
