Funeral services have been set for a retired Middletown police lieutenant who died Thursday morning at Miami Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services for Lt. George Jeffery, father of detective Kristi Hughes and father-in-law to Capt. Brent Hughes, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark St.

Following the funeral, he will be laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery.

Jeffery was 76. He joined the Middletown Division of Police in 1972 and retired in 2006 after a 34-year career.
