Middletown has a long history with paper mills, and archive photos provide nostalgia about those times.

The Middletown Historical Society went into its archives to produce some must-see images of those mills and their operators through the years.

“The Erwin Brothers built the first paper mill in Middletown,” the historical society wrote. “It began operation in 1852 and later became part of the Sorg Paper Company.”
