The campaign, sponsored by the Abuse and Rape Crisis Shelter, seeks to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it.
Several businesses, as well as the downtown Lebanon library will be participating in the campaign through various awareness efforts such as handing out teal ribbons and wristbands to patrons. The library will highlight documentaries, independent films and educational videos on sexual assault through their online Kanopy System.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month calls attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread and has significant impact on every person in every community.
The theme of this year's campaign is "I Ask.", which sheds light on consent. By asking for consent, individuals will demonstrate that this behavior is a normal, necessary, and healthy part of everyday interactions and relationships.
“Individuals and communities are successfully combating the risk of sexual harassment, misconduct, and assault through conversations, programs, policies, and research-based tools that promote safety, respect, and equality”, ARCS leaders say.
Established in 1984 as a not-for-profit corporation and dedicated to the safety, healing and empowerment of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, ARCS continues to create a knowledgeable and supportive community through preventative education and trauma-informed crisis intervention throughout Warren County, Ohio.
