Whether it’s a toddler we already know and love like 2-year-old Fiona the hippopotamus, or newborn fuzzy penguin chicks, there are dozens of young animals to see during Zoo Babies month.
“No question that baby animals are adorable, but they’re also great ambassadors for their species,” Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard said. “They can inspire visitors to care about their wild counterparts and take action to protect them.”
Young colobus monkeys, a tamandua, Guam rails and other rare birds, along with reptiles and insects are among the babies at the zoo. When visiting keep an eye out for the 6-foot-tall stork signs that mark the spots where babies can be found.
