Ava is the couple’s second child. Their daughter Ella was born 3 1/2 years ago and arrived three weeks early, according to Kristen Wilkerson.
“I had my bags packed for three weeks because I wasn’t sure if she (Ava) would be arriving early,” she said.
Kristen Wilkerson said her water broke about midnight, and Ava was born shortly after. Her sister, Ali, decorated the room with 2020 balloons and 2020 cupcakes and cookies.
“I brought the party here,” Ali said.
Both the couples’ families were at the hospital watching as Ava and her parents were being photographed. Kristen said they should be released from the hospital sometime on Thursday.
While Mercy Health -Fairfield Hospital seemed to have delivered the county’s newest baby, West Chester Hospital officials said the first baby born there for 2020 was Otto, the son of Adam and Megan Steigerwald who was delivered at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday, according to UC Health officials. Otto weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces.
Atrium Medical Center in Middletown said its first birth of 2020 was a boy was born about a half-hour later at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday. Officials had no other information on the new baby and family.
Fort Hamilton Hospital officials said they expected to have a New Year’s baby born, and as of mid-afternoon Wednesday, there were two women in labor.
