During the pandemic 6,251 hospitalizations and 1,604 ICU admissions have been reported.
Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday that he hopes to have students in classrooms this fall, but that the state is still working on guidelines.
Protocols are likely to be broad to give school districts the flexibility to determine what works best for their buildings and students.
DeWine noted that the state does not set the starting date for schools and that it is determined by school boards.
The governor also hinted that more reopening dates could be announced tomorrow.
He said an update is coming Thursday for zoos, museums and other entertainment industries.
