Career fair in West Chester to feature 45 regional employers

“We’re looking for career-minded folks interested in supply chain and warehousing, and also individuals interested in being truck drivers,” said Shawn Coots, vice president of operations for U.S. Foods, which will be participating in the Nov. 3 event.

Joining US Foods for the Cincinnati State Supply Chain Career Fair are a number of other employers in the regional distribution, manufacturing, and staffing industries. They include: Aero Fulfillment, Amstan Logistics, Ashley Ward, Belcan, Belfex Staffing, Community Action Agency, Chartwell, Cornerstone Brands, Crane Chem Pharma & Energy, Crown Services, Ctek Tool, Diehl Steel, Easter Seals, Emerald Materials, Free Store Foodbank, Goodwill, Hamilton County Public Defenders, Home Depot, Horizons HRS, Integrity Staffing, Johnson Controls, Jurgensen Companies, KAO, Koch Foods, Life Enriching Communities, LSI, Magellan Aerospace, Manpower, Prestige Technical Services, Presto Foods, Sealtron, Select Staffing, Speedway, St. Joseph Home, Staffmark, Sur-Seal, Talbert House, The Job Store, Thyssenkrupp Bilstein, TP Mechanical, TradeGlobal, United Performance Metals and UPS.

Several regional nonprofit employers, including Free Store Foodbank and St. Joseph Home, will also be present to meet with potential employees.

Cincinnati State's 20,000-square-foot Supply Chain Career Development Center, which opened in June, was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The college developed the center in response to employer concerns about the expanding skills gap in the regional supply chain/logistics workforce.

Greater Cincinnati’s supply chain and logistics industry has grown rapidly and is now home to more logistics companies than all but three, much larger metros—Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta.

The Supply Chain Career Development Center provides Certified Logistics Associate and forklift operator training programs, APICS Global Logistics Associate, as well as commercial driver’s license (truck driver) training in conjunction with Butler Tech.

U.S. Foods recently utilized the Cincinnati State Supply Chain Career Development Center to provide forklift and power equipment training for six employees.

“The training was great,” Coots said. “Our employees came back with better skills and are much more safety conscience.”
