Butler County skating rink becomes casualty of coronavirus shutdown

A Butler County roller skating rink announced that it will shut down “due to current economic conditions created by the Coronavirus.”

Skatetown USA Family Roller Skating Facility, which opened in 2003 at 8730 North Pavilion Drive in West Chester Twp., will close its doors permanently May 1.

The announcement was made “with great sadness,” according to a post to the rink’s Facebook page.

“Due to the current economic conditions created by the Coronavirus and the state mandates the financial impact on the roller skating business has been too much to recover from, and to keep the high standards of operations that we have provided over the years,” reads the post. “We would like to thank all of our customers for the years of support and allowing us to serve so many of you and your families!”

Also in the Facebook post, the business thanked West Chester officials and the surrounding school districts for the support they have all provided over the years.

“We will continue to cherish the many memories and friendships that have been formed through roller skating at Skatetown USA,” the post said.

All of the rink’s equipment and supplies will be available for purchase by appointment starting todayby contacting Ken Roesel via kenskatetownusa@aol.com.
