Butler County Farm Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 at Pedro's Angus Farm, 2151 Harris Road, in Milford Twp.
Along with the Angus cattle herd to view, there will be a cow and calf petting area, wagon rides, tractor displays, wool spinning demonstrations and other activities for children.
“The goal of the Farm Day event is to educate the public about Ohio’s No. 1 industry — agriculture,” said Cindy Meyer, OSU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources educator. “This day will give our citizens a glimpse into what farm life is like on a Registered Black Angus cattle operation.”
Various farming and environmental agencies will also be on hand talking about the groups they represent.
Conservation practices that local farmers are incorporating into their farms will also be highlighted this year.
“We also hope our 800-plus participants will walk away with a greater understanding of farm life, the passion producers have for their livestock and agricultural operations, and how our producers work to find ways to conserve our natural resources through conservation practices,” Meyer said.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees should leave their pets at home as this is a working farm. The land may be rough or muddy in the event of rain.
Ohio State University Extension-Butler County, Butler Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service is partnering with Pedro’s Angus Farm, a registered black Angus cattle operation, to offer the Butler County Farm Day.
