A 13-year-old Butler County boy is dead after a car driven by his sister was in a crash Tuesday evening.

The collision took place in Reily Twp. and left 13-year-old Riley Rogers with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Butler County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Peters.

The boy’s sister was backing the car out of a driveway in 7500 block of Hamilton-Scipio Road about 5:30 p.m Tuesday, said Peters.

The car was struck by a pickup truck on the passenger’s side, and the car’s driver, Madison Rogers, was taken by ambulance to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford with non-life threatening injuries, Peters said.

According to Peters’ statement, Rogers failed to yield the right of way to John McClure of Hamilton, who was driving the pickup truck.

McClure was not injured.

Deputies are still investigating the accident, she said, but so far there is no indication alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision.

Both Rogers and her brother were wearing seat belts, she said.
