But first StoryPoint must get approval from Fairfield Twp. to rezone the property for a business use. A zoning hearing is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the township administration building, 6032 Morris Road.
Fairfield Twp. interim administrator Julie Vonderhaar said the company’s market study showed that the township had the need. And the fiscal impact to the township would be substantial, she said.
“When they come in (a community), they stay and invest in the communities,” she said. “This could be upwards of — and we were conservative in our estimates — of $16 million-plus to the township. It’s a substantial project for Fairfield Twp.”
According to StoryPoint’s presentation given to Fairfield Twp., the company estimates more than 1,500 units for independent and assisted living, and memory care are needed within a 15-mile radius around the township.
They anticipated more than 100 jobs will be created, with more than 40 of them being full-time. The annual payroll, once the facility is fully established, is estimated to exceed $3 million, according to the presentation document.
From start to finish, company officials anticipate it taking 18 months, according to the presentation.
StoryPoint, which offers independent living, assisted living and memory care, is headquartered in Brighton, Mich., with three locations in Michigan and two in Ohio — Grove City and Troy. The company also owns a line of 10 Independence Village facilities in Michigan and Ohio.
