Two people from New Jersey were charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs, first-degree felonies, after drugs were allegedly found in their vehicle by a K-9 officer during a traffic stop.

While Deputy Daron Rhoads and his K-9 partner Kaiser were working in an area of Ohio 4 in Butler County over the weekend, they located a large supply of fentanyl during a traffic stop. Rhoads noticed a vehicle make several traffic violations while travelling north on Ohio 4 near Lesourdsville West Chester Road, according to the sheriff’s office.

Rhoads subsequently conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the traffic stop, Kaiser walked around the vehicle where he alerted Rhoads to the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched and 2.2 pounds of fentanyl were allegedly found in the back seat, according to the sheriff’s office.

The drugs were concealed underneath a pile of clothes wrapped in cellophane, grease and dryer sheets, according to the BCSO.
