Local filmmakers begin shooting movie in Hamilton

A movie being shot for the big screen by two local filmmakers has been filming scenes around Hamilton the past week, drawing crowds of interested onlookers to the set.

“Alan and the Fullness of Time” is a faith-based drama/thriller that centers around a young boy’s struggle and the evil powers at work to stop him and a close circle of believers.

The film is employing about 50 cast and crew members and has 100 extras on the set around Hamilton, according to Chase Crawford, 21, a graduate of Butler Tech and Monroe High School, who is a producer for the film.

He was on the set at at the Kingdom Ministries House of Prayer in Hamilton this week, where scenes for the movie were being shot.

“I am excited to bring a film to my hometown — not just Cincinnati, but Butler County. We are shooting at many familiar locations to my upbringing, such as Monroe High School and the church that my family went to throughout my childhood, Crosspointe Church of Christ in Middletown,” Crawford said. “All of our main characters’ houses are in Hamilton and we will be shooting on many Hamilton streets as well.”

The film is written and directed by Markus Charles Cook, 22, who graduated from Cincinnati Christian High School in Fairfield. He said it has been “a special feeling” to be back in the area working on a movie.

Crawford said, “we are two of the youngest people making feature films and doing it right here in our backyard.”

Gary Chance, pastor of Kingdon Ministries, said his church was “delighted to be able to host the film” for a few scenes that were shot recently.

Jeffrey Cook is one is the leader of Heavenly C Ministries of the World and the religious organization’s film unit is helping produce the movie.

“Our plan is to premier this film in the fall of 2018,” he said.

Hamilton native Cheryl Cook is one of the executive producers of the film and she said being able to bring another movie to the area has been a very positive experience.

“I was born and raised here in Hamilton so it has been a blessing to be back here doing this film in the city and the tri-state area,” she said. “All of the community support has been great and we appreciate it.”
