“Immediate action was taken to investigate the rumor, but after numerous inquiries and with assistance from local law enforcement the alleged rumor could not be substantiated. Out of an abundance of caution, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office will be providing additional presence at the high school tomorrow,” said school officials.
Edgewood officials said this morning there were no further developments connected to the alleged rumor.
Edgewood was the first school district in Butler County to add armed police officers - also known as school resource officers or SROs to all its schools.
“We take all threats seriously and will continue to work together with the BCSO to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We appreciate the individuals who reported this information. We can not stress enough the importance when you ‘see something, say something’ and thank you for those who did,” they said.
