When it comes to comfort food during the winter months, there are plenty of local dining options for community members to enjoy. Each experience is sure to be memorable when diners combine the local food and drink options with the company of family and friends.

“There’s something to be said about the joys of comfort food and seasonal dishes paired with good conversation. Dining out with loved ones is an experience that creates lasting memories and adds extra warmth and cheer to the winter season,” said Kathryn Rawlinson, vice president of marketing and communications at Travel Butler County.

One staple in Hamilton, Hyde’s Restaurant, is known for its homemade dishes such as chicken and dumplings as well as the signature pies that are made fresh daily. Serving comfort food for generations, this local establishment has been family-owned and operated since 1946.

Some comfort food classics to try this winter are the Loaded Baked Potato flatbread and rotating dessert flatbreads at Broken Barrel Bar & Grill in Middletown, the Lagman Soup at The Plove in Fairfield, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken at Cozy’s Café & Pub in Liberty Twp., or The Cratchet Family Bread Pudding from The Pickle & Pig in Oxford,” Rawlinson said.

Aladdin’s Eatery, a Lebanese-American restaurant in West Chester, specializes in classic Lebanese cuisine. Menu favorites include hummus, pitas, falafels, and shish kabobs, which are homemade with fresh ingredients. When it comes to comfort food selections, the new Chicken Pesto Pitza, Vegetarian Chili, and Lentil Soup top the list.

“There are many amazing restaurants in Butler County so I would highly recommend trying a local option that’s new to you, or a cuisine that you may not have experienced before. Not only may you discover a new favorite restaurant or dish, but it’s also a great way to get out and explore and connect with local communities,” said Rawlinson.
