A local boys high school basketball team has its state basketball tournament future on hold as another team pursues legal action against the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Fenwick was originally slated to play Dunbar in a Division II sectional final, but Dunbar was removed from the tournament on Wednesday for using an ineligble player in Monday’s game vs. Thurgood Marshall.

Fenwick’s opponent changed to Thurgood Marshall, and the game was scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at University of Dayton Arena.

Then on Friday, Dunbar filed for a temporary restraining order in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, to allow the team to compete in the postseason tournament.

Because of that filing, the OHSAA announced Fenwick’s game will be played at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at UD Arena.

Fenwick is 17-6. The sectional final winner will advance to the D-II district final at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kettering’s Trent Arena.
