Legendary local bluegrass act, Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass, will perform a free public concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 5, in the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center, Miami University Regionals Hamilton campus, 1601 University Blvd.

Fronted by Vernon and Kitty McIntyre, the Appalachian Grass is a driving, five-piece bluegrass band established in Cincinnati during the 1960s. Over the years, they have played concerts, festivals, fairs, colleges, radio, television, and exclusive nightclubs across the United States and Canada.

This program is sponsored by Miami University Regionals Appalachian Studies program, which is dedicated to exploring the Appalachian history, culture, and heritage of the Miami Valley.

Appalachian Studies also hosts an Old-time Music Jam at Miami Middletown, where all are welcome to bring their instruments or simply enjoy the music. Two Old-time jams are scheduled this fall from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 19 and Nov. 9 at Miriam G. Knoll Community Center, 142 located in Johnston Hall on Miami University Regionals Middletown campus, 4200 N. University Blvd.

Both Appalachian Grass and the Old-time jams are free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged at MiamiOH.edu/Regionals/RSVP.
