HAMILTON ― A 14-year-old girl was sentenced this afternoon to six months of home confinement for her role in the Liberty Twp. shooting death of Riah Milton.

The juvenile, a Lakota East student, was sentenced by Butler County Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Romans to six months suspended commitment to the Ohio Department of Youth Services, but she won’t go home yet. She was remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center for an electronic monitoring device to be set up, which juvenile court administrator Rob Clevenger said could take a day or two.

The girl was adjudicated on July 2 on the charge of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

During the early morning hours of June 9, Milton, 25, of Cincinnati, was killed in what detectives called a planned robbery. A group met at Liberty Park planning to steal Milton’s purple Camaro. Investigators say Milton was “lured” to the location.

A fight ensued, and Milton was shot and killed in the 6000 block of Spruce Creek Drive. The suspects drove away in Milton’s car that was eventually ditched in West Chester Twp.

The 14-year-old will not be allowed to leave her home during her home incarceration and will be closely monitored by her probation officer. In addition to having no contact with her co-defendants — Kaleb Marshall Tooson, 18, of Liberty Twp., and Tyree Jeffery Cross, 25, of Cincinnati — she was also sentenced to intensive probation, which means she will regularly be monitored and will frequently meet with her probation officer.

Romans also ordered the girl to counseling. The case will be set for review at 10 a.m. on Aug. 27.

Tooson was charged with murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery in the death of Milton. Cross was arrested earlier this month after a three-week search. He was charged with complicity to murder, complicity to aggravated robbery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Tooson and Cross are scheduled to appear Tuesday morning in Butler County Common Pleas Court before Judge Charles Pater to either enter a plea or schedule a trial date. Both are being held in the Butler County Jail on $1 million bonds.
