ONLINE SHOPPING UPDATES
The Kroger Co. has expanded its online shopping service to now a total of four stores: Liberty Twp., Lebanon, Finneytown and Versailles, Ky., according to company spokeswoman Patty Leesemann.
Cincinnati-based Kroger began testing last year the service that lets customers place orders online and pick them up in a drive-through at its Yankee Road Liberty Twp. Marketplace. Since then, testing expanded from employees to select customers, before it became available in June to all Liberty Twp. customers.
Now Kroger is rolling out online shopping to more stores. However, Leesemann said there is no updates on when the service might grow to more Dayton-area locations.
To order (at participating locations), go online to www.kroger.com/onlineshopping, build a cart, and select a pick-up time and location.

The Kroger Co.’s latest building plans in its Cincinnati/Dayton Division are for a new store in Colerain Twp., for which construction could start next year, said spokeswoman Patty Leesemann.
Kroger has purchased property on the northwest corner of Springdale Road and Colerain Avenue, Leesemann said, where the grocer plans to relocate a nearby store once the new one opens. The new store will be an approximately 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace with a fuel center, Leesemann said.
Elsewhere in the region, Kroger opens a new store in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Oakley in September, she said. A new Troy store in Miami County will open later this year as well.
The Englewood Marketplace on Union Boulevard held a grand re-opening the weekend of July 24 following $2.4 million invested in renovations such as a new apparel department.
Meanwhile, Kroger is also reviewing plans to build new stores in Corryville, Liberty Twp., Centerville, Moraine and Fairborn, she said. There is no timeline for construction for Corryville at the moment, and the Cincinnati-based retailer is finalizing details for Centerville and Fairborn, with Leesemann saying construction could start next year or in 2017 at those two spots.
Kroger submitted plans to the local government at the end of last year to build a new store in Liberty Twp. and in February, the board of zoning appeals approved two zoning variances. Kroger wants to build a new Marketplace near the intersection of Ohio 4 and Kyles Station Road, which would replace the current grocery store nearby on Liberty Fairfield Road. But a group of township residents challenged those plans in court because the new store "would significantly hinder the quiet enjoyment of their residences," according to their attorney.
“We don’t have any updates on Liberty Twp. at this time,” Leesemann said in an email.
Presently, Kroger operates 109 supermarkets in the Cincinnati/Dayton Division employing more than 20,000 people, according to the Fortune 500 company.
