Kroger is apologizing after a gas supplier mistakenly placed diesel fuel in premium unleaded gasoline tanks at the Kroger Marketplace gas station in Liberty Twp.

The mix-up occurred around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday at the station at 7300 Yankee Road and Kroger officials realized the error in less than an hour, according to Patty Leesemann, a spokeswoman for the company.

“We started receiving calls from customers and immediately shut down the premium unleaded pumps,” Leesemann said.

At this point, the company believes fewer than 50 customers were affected, she said.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused,” Leesemann said. “We are working with customers who may have been affected by this situation. Customers can call Kroger at 1-800-576-4377 to get more information.”
