Hospice facility in Blue Ash undergoing $5M update

A $5 million renovation to the Hospice of Cincinnati’s flagship location in Blue Ash begins next week.

These are the first renovations to the Blue Ash Inpatient Care Center, located at 4310 Cooper Road, since it was built in 1996, said Janet Montgomery, chief marketing officer for Hospice of Cincinnati.

The nonprofit hospice care provider launched a $3.5 million capital campaign — “Renewing our Home. Fulfilling our Mission.” — in July 2013, and has since raised $3.1 million, Montgomery said.

Renovations funded through the capital campaign will include an update to all 35 patient rooms with new furniture, flat-screen TVs compatible with Apple, and a rubberized floor that’s soft and quiet; a new family cafe; garden lounge; nurses station; and more private gathering spaces for families, according to Montgomery.

During renovations — from June until October — patients are being referred to other care settings, including Hospice of Cincinnati locations in Hamilton, Anderson and Western Hills, or continuous care inside their home.

“Construction is no place for someone at the end of life,” Montgomery said.

An additional $1.5 million will be invested by the nonprofit to replace the roof and install a new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system, at the 40,000-square-foot building.

The Hospice of Cincinnati cares for 675 patients daily through home care and inpatient settings.
