UC Health moving office to ‘visible corner’ of city

Two health systems building primary care offices within a mile from each other.

Construction is halfway complete for a new medical office in Trenton.

A UC Health Primary Care office, being constructed at 715 W. State St., is set to be complete by Sept. 1. The 5,000-square-foot facility will house existing UC Health providers, Dr. Kali Hollingsworth and nurse practitioner Susan Smith.

Peter Iacobell, vice president of strategic planning and business ventures for UC Health, said Dr. Hollingsworth, who’s fellowship-trained in sports medicine, will provide primary care services. The Cincinnati health system also hopes to recruit a second physician for the office.

The developer, Design Build Solutions in Cincinnati, has formed Trenton Real Estate Partners LLC to own the facility once construction is finished, said Tom Torbeck, president of Design Build Solutions.

Torbeck said total development costs are $1.3 million, which will be paid back through a 15-year lease agreement with UC Health.

Iacobell said the new office will replace the current UC Health Primary Care office of Dr. Hollingsworth, located nearby on West State Street. The new facility will have eight exam rooms and one procedure room.

“It’s built to be patient friendly, easily accessible and have a warm and accommodating feel to it,” Iacobell said.

Iacobell said depending on the needs of the community, UC Health can access a pool of 1,000 specialists and health care providers within UC Physicians.

About a mile from the UC Health site is another primary care medical office under construction.

Over the border into St. Clair Twp., Atrium Medical Center and Edgewood City Schools have partnered for a 15,000-square-foot medical facility on the Edgewood campus at 5005 Ohio 73.

The $4 million facility, to be called Atrium Health Center Trenton, will house medical services including physical therapy, medical imaging, lab services, occupational medicine and cardiovascular services, said Donna L. Banks, vice president of operations for Atrium.

The Trenton Family Medicine offices of Drs. William Glickfield and Jeffrey Jarrett will also move into the building when it opens in September.

James Foster, economic development director in Trenton, said he’s excited to see movement on both the UC Health and Atrium medical offices. He said this has been a need in Trenton, as well as northeast Butler County.

“I’m very happy the services are going to be available here,” Foster said.

Foster said the UC Health building will add new life to a visible corner of the city that previously housed an Oak Hill Bank. The bank building, which closed several years ago, was demolished by Design Build Solutions.

“It’s a good viable professional use in a very visible corner of the city of Trenton,” Foster said.
