Branded as “Resurgence,” the creative concoction is a combination of Bordeaux, lavender and lilac, making it “very fresh and clean,” Hoskins said.
“The Hamilton candle was named resurgence because of all the revitalization efforts happening in Hamilton,” Hoskins said. “It’s a new Hamilton.”
The contest ran for three weeks and drew 76 scent entries. A week of community voting followed.
“We strongly believe in giving back to our community, so for every entry we donated $1 to YWCA Hamilton,” Hoskins said. “In the end it totaled $76, so we rounded it up to a $100 donation. It was a great success and we’ll be doing it again next year.”
The candle is selling for $15 at Petals & Wicks, as well as at the Hamilton Visitors Bureau and The Main Look salon. Petals & Wicks will donate $2 for every candle sold from its shop to the YWCA, according to Hoskins.
