Brill takes over for Tyler Thamann, who led the Joes the last four seasons. Thamann captured his 100th win for the Joes last year when the program finished 26-9 and won its fifth Greater Lakes Summer Collegiate League title.
Thamann will still lead the Miami University Hamilton baseball team.
Brill was the hitting coach and first base coach for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) in 2024.
During his time in Charleston, Brill helped lead the Dirty Birds to their first-ever ALPB regular season title and a South Division championship. The Dirty Birds ranked in the league’s top four in runs, hits, home runs, RBI’s, walks and total bases under Brill’s offensive leadership.
Brill played collegiate baseball at Felician University, where he posted a .363 batting average and an OPS just under .950.
He later moved onto professional baseball for six seasons, including a Pacific Association championship in 2018 with the San Rafael Pacifics.
“The Joes’ track record of winning certainly speaks for itself,” Brill said. “Having such few people come through management of the Joes speaks to a strong and consistent team with a culture of winning and a way to do things.”
The Joes begin the season on Friday, June 6, against the Grand Lake Mariners.
“We are so excited to welcome Aaron Brill to Hamilton to lead the Joes this summer,” Hamilton Joes Director of Baseball Operations Ryan Finnerty said. “With extensive experience as both a player and coach in professional baseball, Coach Brill brings a ton of energy and a proven ability to get the most out of his players.
“We look forward to the positive impact he’ll have on the Joes’ organization and the entire Hamilton community.”
