Those student athletes are in a 10-day quarantine, Athletic Director Missy Harvey said, which “means they cannot return to school until Sept. 1.”
“That was giving our kids two days to prepare for a varsity football game, and for them to have been off for 10 days and come back, and to get acclimated, it did not seem to be a safe or fair situation for us to put our players into, which is why we went the full two weeks,” Harvey said.
The varsity team won its first game, against West Clermont High School, 43-28.
The Big Blue football team was scheduled to play Edgewood High School at 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Virgil M. Schwarm Stadium. The junior varsity game against Edgewood on Saturday also was canceled.
