Here are five things to know about the program:
It is a partnership between three entities
Street Spark is a public art program in partnership with the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Community Foundation, founded to further the arts identity in the city through murals and public art projects.
There have been five murals created already with more to come in 2018
There will be three murals painted in 2018, with two of them going up in downtown Hamilton and the other on the Miami University Hamilton campus.
One mural features a local legend
A Hamilton mural featuring Cincinnati Reds legend Joe Nuxhall was painted on the side of Clark’s Sporting Goods on Hamilton s west side.
Deadline for painter application approaching
For those interested in helping paint the three murals scheduled for 2018, the deadline is midnight on March 2. Visit www.fittoncenter.org/streetspark to apply.
Mural selection happens soon
The Artist Selection Committee meets this week to vote and they get to use the cinema at the Fitton Center to project the mural entries, some of which are to scale, according to Executive Director Ian MacKenzie-Thurley.
