Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries plans to open its 18th store in the Greater Cincinnati area this month on Hamilton’s West Side.

Goodwill purchased the 1.3-acre property at 1555 Main St. in March for $300,000, according to Butler County Auditor’s Office record. It went on to construct a 1,200-square-foot building on the site, which is next door to Skyline Chili.

That building replaces a structure that was torn down there and had housed Doubles, Tumbleweeds and McAbee’s Bar & Grill.

After a shooting in the summer of 2016 at the then-Doubles bar, the city razed the building.

The store will feature never-before-worn clothing made by Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Bill Blass, Ralph Lauren and other fashion labels, as well as gently used clothing, according to Ohio Valley Goodwill spokesman Michael Flannery.

The closest Ohio Valley Goodwill locations in Butler County are Oxford and Fairfield.

Goodwill previously offered a store in Hamilton and had been looking for “a while” to get back to the city, Flannery said.

“We’re just thrilled with this place and to be back in Hamilton,” he said. “There’s big box stores like Kroger and retail in the area already, which is good for business and also … Hamilton is going crazy (with development). It’s gotten so much better that we’re glad to be a part of that new energy that’s in there and the excitement.”
